hew! Lots of new stuff in the shop as of today! We took a full truckload of large and small items to restock the upstairs and downstairs spaces. My garage finally has a bit of breathing room...it is no longer in critical condition! The shots below are from the upstairs space.

 came across these great "Green Cross" paper cups and dispenser at an estate sale last fall. After a little research, I found out the "Green Cross for Safety" was a symbol used by the National Safety Council, which was established in 1912...almost 100 years ago. I envision the dispenser and cups were at some point hanging in a workplace. As workers would come to get a drink during their breaks, these safety messages would remind them to be safe as they work.

Don't you love the two AJAX boxes? They are chock full of hundreds of these great vintage paper drinking cups. The vintage packaging has such a simple but charming feel!

These will be making their way to the store soon. I adore anything related to health or health care. I know someone else will be smitten with these pieces of health promotion history!!

Authentic Mid-Century Parisian Hat Store Display

found this beautiful piece last summer. When I found out that it came with a story, I was hooked. My understanding is that it came from a woman in Duluth whose family had a French foreign exchange student some time in the mid-1900s. The student became a friend and would visit often...bringing along French items. This hat rack was one of them...an original display piece from a Parisian hat shop.

When I bought it, the intention was to use it in our newly renovated master bedroom. I was so excited! After trying this, that, and the other, I finally and defeatedly admitted that there was not enough room for it. I still need a solution for the treasured hats I love to wear!!

This piece has since made its way to the new downstairs space at Old Town Antiques in Duluth. It is hoping to find a new and loving home to carry on its history and loving owner to tell its story. Junko, the fine fella sporting the iJunk t-shirt, is keeping an eye on it for now.
