Junking Finds & Late Breaking Junk News!

Loooove the orange on this set of vintage gardening tools!

The Snowman Hill Occasional Sale was a lot of fun! I met some great new people and loved hanging out with Krista and Dana. I'm already thinking fall, and I found some great new pieces that will make their way to Snowman Hill's August show or the AAAJMS Fall 2010 show in October!!

Great vintage scale...love that steely blue color!

A great set of cabinet doors rescued from a home remodel.

Totally diggin' the hardware!

The doors might get a great Junkologie treatment before they head to a sale!

Mmmm, yeah.

The Snowman Hill Occasional Sale
starts Friday morning at 9 am!

Krista, Dana, and their hubs have been working hard to get their new building up and running.

There is still some work to do, but we are set up and ready to rock!

I've commandeered the entire right side of the front porch with Junkologie goods.

Take a sneak peek!

To see some more sneak peek photos, visit the Snowman Hill blog.

I hope to see you there!

Prepping for Snowman Hill Grand Opening & Occasional Sale

These great coat hooks are made from vintage garden trellises.
A chicken feeder, two green planter boxes, and a salvaged blue screen door...yummy junk!

We've been prepping for the Snowman Hill Grand Opening & Occasional Sale that is coming up this weekend. Here is a stack of junk goodies that is awaiting the move to Krista's and Dana's new shop. It feels like the summer has just begun, and we're making it last with lots of garden-inspired junk finds.

This white half-barrel planter will look stunning with some gorgeous plantings!

Tweet! Tweet! Love the bird details on this stone birdbath!

Garden trellises, a great chippy blue bench, and smaller rustic pieces ripe for the picking!

This industrial shelf originally held boxes of nails, screws, etc. There are countless uses for this piece!

A rustic picnic table and two benches can provide an inexpensive seating for that upcoming family reunion or Labor Day picnic. Those benches would also be great in an entry way, guest room, kid's room, master bath, or home gym! Or how about as a window seat? The idea's keep coming!

This is only part of the haul, so I'll try to post more photos before this weekend. You should also check out the photos of Snowman Hill's goodies. The fun begins Friday...

iJunk Spotlight: TheSmithHotel

My name is Jody Smith, aka Mrs. Smith–owner/operator of TheSmithHotel. My blog site is http://thesmithhotel-thesmithhotel.blogspot.com/. We are located in Redding, California....a beautiful northern California town. No, we don't have a real hotel (unless you want to sleep on the hide-a-bed in the couch).

I have always loved to bargain shop–always......yep even in the stroller my mom would have to check to see what items I picked up in the store.  So you could say that I basically was Born to Shop! Fast forward #&%$ years and that brings us to Fall 2009.... A dear friend (Ann) who shall remain nameless- oops, guess not....convinced me to set up an Etsy shop...http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheSmithHotel...to sell my burlap stockings.....20 stockings later......I decided to add vintage finds to my shop, too.

Oh and I started my blog at the same time. I am a stay home mom raising my son Boy Wonder and my daughter Drama Queen.

January 2010....Mr. Smith's company gets downsized......Our only income is gone!
Hmmm what's a girl to do?...
Kick it into high gear.....
Had an Open House in March 2010.....
Had a great time, had great sales for the first time out.....
Had an abundance of inventory left...
Went out and got a business license and rented a space at Oregon Street Antique Mall.  Mr. Smith, with time on his hands, helped his lovely wife move into her booth upstairs.

I blog about my life, my finds, my cheap fabulous creations, my kids, my dog, my husband, and I fabricate tell mystery stories.

I create thrifty items for my home then make a ridiculous story to go along with it.

I rub it in post my super duper cheap finds.

I give the most awful precise instructional tutorials.

I love items that have lived long lives so if the paint is chipped, a little rusty or just deemed old-I love it! Blogging has open a whole junk world to me!  I never thought I would finds others who love junk as much as I do!  I want to be known to the world as someone who creates beautiful items out of other's junk!

Well, okay if a couple people think I am funny than that would be okay too!
Hello?
Hello?
Yep, I knew I would lose a few people if I did this Junkologie Guest Post for Amy!
Note to self.....might be just as bad as my tutorial!

Thank you, Jody! We enjoyed getting to know you better! Don't y'all love that Jody's humor and personality come out in her writing? Stop over for a visit at TheSmithHotel!

Junking Finds, July 5-11, 2010

While on the way to our recent family vacation, we stopped at one of my favorite junking spots. As usual, they did not disappoint! I've got a project in mind for the Greyhound item. No, I have no idea what it is and neither did the person selling it.

This industrial weather forecaster is fabulous! A little cleaning up and it will be ready to rock any room!

The industrial crate is ready for one of our upcoming sales. This bell apparatus? Again, no idea what it is for, but I love the mechanics! It makes for a great art piece as is!
