I Heart Vintage Ceiling Tile Artwork

I thought I'd insert some junk photos here on this lil' ol' junking site! :) We did get to see a fair bit of it while shopping before and after Junkologie Blog Party 2010. (That's an understatement, to be sure!) These photos are from Billy Joe's booth at Oronoco Gold Rush Days. Billy Joe is a southern boy with a witty drawl and a story for every occasion.

Here's my girl, Lanette, chatting it up with Billy Joe.

Billy Joe uses antique ceiling tiles to create his wares. Such patina!

Here are single tiles attached to wood pieces...perfect for hanging anywhere.
Can you imagine a group of these on a wall? Gorgeous!!

He is also now doing letters, numbers, and...

...hearts, too! Lanette is saying "I heart this cabinet!" with one of Billy Joe's heart designs.
And I heart Lanette and Gretchen

Billy Joe will be selling his great ceiling tile pieces at Junk Bonanza this September. Stop by his booth for a story or two!!

Prizes, Laughs, and a TV Crew: More Happenings at Junkologie Blog Party 2010

THE PRIZES

Junkologie Blog Party 2010 had the best sponsors! Look at all these happy drawing winners!!

People made their name tags and registered for prizes here! The Pfarkel Sisters whipped up this table out of some rusty chairs and a hog feeder cover that we had found the day before. Clever! I made the registration forms to fit a vintage Globe-Wernicke clipboard. And the name tags? Vintage Mallo Cup cards. More Pfarkel ingenuity!

THE LAUGHS

We had lots of fun socializing...

Ann, Debbie, & Carol mugging for the camera.

Janell, Ki, Dianne, & Sharon laughing it up.

Dianne, Marge, Sharon, and Janell socializing on the vintage 1940s barber shop furniture I had found the day before.

THE TV CREW

And we might even be on TV this fall! A crew from the History Channel was in Oronoco all weekend filming for a new show called, "Life on the Road." I will definitely keep you posted on this!

Here's the creative and good-looking California film crew. They looked like they had fun working together! Wish we had had a golf cart to cruise around on!

2nd Annual Junk Potluck: Meet the Contestants

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Junkologie Blog Party 2010! The Junk Potluck was a lot of fun as people showed up with their creative and elegant entries! We had a five eligible entries this year. Let's take a look at them...

JUNK POTLUCK ENTRY #1

Here is Lanette of Cottage Elements.

She served up cheese slices on a crafty cheese grater turned server. By simply adding these feet to the cheese grater, she gave it new purpose and "elevated" its style quotient! :)

POTLUCK ENTRY #2

This is Tammy with her asian garden themed tablescape.

Yes, she brought a whole beautiful tablescape on her own! She cleverly toted the whole thing in the great garden bucket you see in the background. The flower pots and the garden markers work well with the pops of red and black in the asian accessories. This table had personal meaning to Tammy, too!

POTLUCK ENTRY #3

This is Marge of Emma's Nook & Granny.

This white and burlap masterpiece created an elegant feel. The ladder was a rusty cast-off that Marge got for free from an auction bidder who didn't want it. She gave it a fresh coat of white and added burlap to the steps. Elegant junk style!

 POTLUCK ENTRY #4

This is Dianne of Junk {re}defined with her plaid lunch box entry.

Diane lined this vintage lunch box with plastic wrap and served up veggies in a too-cool-for-school way. What about the dip? The thermos lid is an instant bowl. The best part? This was one of her finds from the flea market earlier that day!

JUNK POTLUCK ENTRY #5

Here are the Pfarkel Sisters (Sharon, Dianne, and Janelle) of Junk {re}defined.

They took two vintage car grills and stacked the circles where the headlights would be.  The headlight location was the perfect spot for a fruit dish, while the remaining area served up wraps in true junker style.

So, you want to know who won? Stay tuned! You have to meet the judges first! Coming up next!!
